Ty. If you don't have a network connected to the 1394 port, then there should be no "1394 Connection" in the Windows Network Connections panel. It wouldn't even run regedit, just gave an error message like "command could not be completed" or somesuch. it worked.was using windows7 on compaq presario v3000. http://realink.org/windows-xp/windows-xp-not-connecting-to-internet-ethernet.html
PC is Chilligreen. This laptop has been down now for several years with out a posted fix. Can you ping any sites? Before that, make sure are upgraded to the latest version of the BIOS….you should find BIOS upgrades on the Gateway Support site for your model.
