Sometimes this menu bar will be switched off in Windows Media Player and so you won't be able to access the Tools menu. I've tried a new CD. Try uninstalling the drive in Device Manager and reboot. Just an FYI for future issues. click site
It will appear to work but the disc never burns properly. Try burning another disk and post back when you finish to let us know if this made the difference. Appreciate all the good advice I received. Not necessary the drive may be in use because it can not read the blank disc (the drive is locked until the media is recognized by the disc drive).. When the system comes back up the scan will continue on it's own.
