A likely reason for the username/password failing in Windows Mail is account corruption. None of the fixes worked for me. Thanks again :) Brad Australia. One thing you should try as a possible quick fix is to delete that mail account, RESTART Windows Mail, then recreate that account.

I noticed in the ‘protect' folder a file called ‘CREDHIST' which presumably is a backup of credentials, which replaces any changes you make to the Outlook passwords with the original credentials Close the small error window and try again.
