Activate your Ethernet card by executing the "ifup eth0" statement on the Linux command prompt (use ifdown eth0 to de-activate the Ethernet card).
Don't mess with the editor. You can do this by going to Control Panel, then Network and Sharing Center, and clicking on Change advanced sharing settings in the left pane. When trying to open these files through "homegroup", nothing happens, but when trying to open through the "workgroup", a user/password are requested and no user/password combination works. When Windows Vista first debuted back in late 2006, x64 compatibility was a mixed bag.
