i uninstalled firewall - didn't help. Remove AVG and install the equally good and free Microsoft Security Essentials. The image on the taskbar shows a partially yellowed out Wifi Icon.

Mine was a wired environment, but had the same problem as wireless, because one machine is XP the other is Vista.

Where does this setting show up in the NBTSTAT command response, and how can it be changed?
