If you use the Dell recovery media to install Windows, it will not have any Advent-specific device drivers on it. @Rick, the search feature is our friend.

morcomp, To do what you want to do, you must make a Slipstream Installation Copy of XP Professional with Service Pack 3. cindybert, Take a minute and read these articles. I phoned the techguys for help and went through the recovery process with them and confirm that the whole harddrive has indeed been formatted. useful reference I'd love to try to "take ownership" of the files or folders, but my security tab doesn't have an Advanced button.

The hardfiles on both systems are NTFS. On this web page are instructions for doing a Factory Restore from the recovery partition. I do have a xp home from my dell desk top which I can use for a re-installation, I just require a step by step guide to help me through it. You cannot disable simple file sharing in XP home Edition.
