Anything else I can do to format in FAT32? The right start sector is 63. Took only a couple of mins. So try out several cables before you give up.

I've got exactly the same "drive unformatted" problem again this morning as I did yesterday morning! USB Ports/Secondary PC You can also try plugging the drive into another USB port on the computer to make sure it's not a problem with that particular port. Normally, Windows does this automatically, but sometimes because of other connected devices, your external hard drive will be recognized, but not have any drive letter assigned to it. I've checked this drive running a drive checker and there are no problems with it.
