The smtp.aol.com (port:587) server is rejecting my email.com account when I try to send outgoing mail. Some colleges use this software on their servers and they set the parameters you need, smtp, server name, server port, etc.
YOU CAN'T RELY ON THEM AND YOU CAN'T RELY ON THE COMPANY TO HANDLE IT PROFESSIONALLY. This has been an intermittent issue with the iOS Mail client for a long time. please help me configure these settings so i can sign people up .. Solved! http://ccm.net/forum/affich-85461-mail-com-server-type

Who's right? This server works (even though I don't use the aol service). Now mail.com is displayed in Iphone like format. Join us now!
I then went back to the outgoing server settings page, and lo-and-behold the word password was shown next to the authentication. So specify your Comcast userid and password here. Set up in Outlook... Mail.com Exchange Settings not sure why it doesn't work, but these are the settings Verizon gave me...and it works.
If you having troubles, consider this. This applies to iOS as well as Mac OS X for the built-in email clients. Other items you might need are there, too. Gmail Hostname And Port Don't understand why Iphone 3.1 has no access to receive msg (only sending emails are ok). Do you use a name "mailname(at)mail.com" or the odd version including hash and colons?
Hi bkr40, hopefully the information that apexron provided got it up and running. The email settings you would need to enter in the app can be found at the link below. What I meant was to ask for the actual smtp - is in what I need to fill in field where it says: smpth:. Mail.com Support The tech support at Comcast by phone was useless.

Comcast has many problems, but that isn't one of them. This last stunt of theirs was enough to get me ready to choose another service.
