My computer has been back to its normal self ever since!! Had to make IE8 my default browser because it works.I thought I might be missing the Flash Player plug-in, and it is not in the list of add-ons, but if I by R. Media Player plays it if I go to the folder and right click "play" but I can't get to the song thru media player itself.
