Please select "AVG Protection" and follow the setup instructions to uninstall AVG.Then to determine whether your OS is a 32-bit or 64-bit, please click on this link. I am on windows 32 bit on a dell laptop. If you don't use AVG removal tool and you try to uninstall it by add/remove program sometime it doesn't remove itself completely because some of security registry entries might get corrupted. How the heck do I get rid of this pesky thing? Please try to uninstall that free version from control panel as well if it appears into your control panel otherwise you have to remove it manually. Perhaps I can ask a friend to download it on her computer to a CD.
Also, when enabling/disabling a firewall always follow that with a reboot or in some cases your action will not be "active".
